#10: Creative Gigaworks T40 Series II

The T40 Series II is a large set coming in at 12.3” x 5.6”, but just 3.5” wide – making it a standout design against other speakers in this price range. The slim physique allows for easy placement of these speakers anywhere in your home.

Just like the T40 Series II’s older sibling, the Gigaworks T20 SII, this device has special audio technology known as BasXPort. This enhances the low frequency response without the bulkiness of a subwoofer. The BasXPort lives at the top of each speaker.

No products found.

The package comes with the speakers, an aux-to-aux cable, dual RCA to stereo audio TV adapter, power supply brick, and info and startup guides.

Each speaker has a tweeter in the center and two mid-range woven fiberglass cone drivers above and below it. To learn more about this set up, check out the full review here.

The right speaker also has knobs for treble, bass and volume control. The volume knob also functions as an on/off switch as well.

Customers will also get a headphone jack and aux-in port at the front. Listen with headphones or connect your smartphone to enjoy your playlist.

#9: Altec Lansing VS4621

Altec Lansing is a very popular name when it comes to building the best computer speakers and they have continued to make a name for themselves in this division. Not only have they built the best 2.1 speaker system, they also managed to make it stylish enough to turn anyone’s head.

The Altec Lansing VS4321 comes with two long horn-like standing speakers and a subwoofer that contains a 6.5” bass driver, thunderous enough to shake the entire room at full volume.

The speaker system contains a total of 7 drivers and this is truly a unique technological advancement compared to other products in this price range and on the market in general. It has a profound effect on the overall sound quality and listening experience for the user.

No products found.

To keep things simple there are only three control knobs for volume, bass, and treble, as well as an aux in-port to connect headphones.

There is some noticeable noise distortion, but you can use a DAC/amplifier to eliminate it.

At a price of under $100, these are in our opinion the best option for a 2.1 speaker system. With around 3000 reviews and a 4.2 average customer rating, the Altec Lansing VS4621s are stylish as well as a great set of performing speakers.

“To be honest, it’s hard finding the best cheap computer speakers that sound clear, crisp and open like the Altec Lansing VS4621, moreover it’s design would make you want to invite your friends over and show it to them.”

#8: Logitech Z623

Logitech Z623s aren’t just a great set of speakers under $200 – they also pack a serious punch when it comes to quality. They’re currently touted as Best Gaming Speakers under budget.

The satellite speakers that come with the 2.1 channel speaker set are fairly large compared to regular satellite speakers, so expect big sound! They hold 2.5” drivers inside each.

The left speaker is clean with no controls or knobs, while the right speaker is active and hosts an indicator light, bass knob, volume knob, a 3.5mm jack to connect your headphones, and another 3.5mm jack that allows you to play music via mobile, iPod, or other music source.

No products found.

Here’s what’s in the box: the subwoofer measuring 11” in height and length, 9.5” in depth, two satellite speakers at 7.8” tall and 5.4” wide, the connection wire for the right satellite speaker, and a thick cord with a D-Sub connector (one we usually see for monitor displays, meant to attach to the subwoofer).

The Logitech Z623 also happens to be THX certified, meaning that they’ve been inspected for clarity and quality. THX certified speakers provide deeper vibrations and highly textured sounds.

Despite being the cheapest contender in our list of best computer speakers under $200, they still manage to throw out 200 watts of total sound output.

“With 7 inches of subwoofer driver and 2.5 inches of satellite drivers, the Z623 from Logitech are a prime example of intense sounding computer speaker set that have marvelous sound quality. Try it to understand it!”

#7: Logitech Z553

Yes, we’re putting another Logitech product on our list – and there’s good reason why. The Z553 has a unique design not seen in many other speaker sets. They look almost like gun barrels, and the subwoofer lives within the cylindrical shape. The assembly is comparable to Apple’s MAC Pro line of desktop computers.

If we’ve caught your interest so far, check out the video below to get an idea of the size of the system, as it can be deceiving!

The box itself is nothing to get excited about, but it does come with heavy padding to keep the contents safe. It contains 2 satellite speakers with the backs and wires accented in orange, giving them a modern and funky appearance.

No products found.

The large, upward firing subwoofer has a smaller footprint compared to the other subwoofers we’re used to. To control volume and bass on the go, there’s also a control pod like we’ve seen with the Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 or the Bose Companion 3 Series II multimedia speakers.

As far as building materials, both the speakers as well as the subwoofer are constructed with high quality plastic. The stands are made of metal with coned rubber feet, giving them a comforting sturdiness and allowing for vibration reduction.

These dual satellites produce a sound output of 10 watts each; the subwoofer offers an output of 20 watts, bringing the total watts to 40w.

Logitech has designed this product to work not only with computers, but with televisions – RCA inputs are included. The Z553 can be connected to three different devices via jacks and inputs, all at one time.

#6: Edifier R1700BT

The R1700BTs have a user rating of 4.7 out of 5, and are some of the easiest to use speakers on our list. They have a functional, simplified design, and we suggest them for anyone beginning in the audiophile world.

The standout feature for this speaker set is its Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to wirelessly connect to any smartphone, PC or Mac without the complexity of wires.

These are active powered bookshelf speakers with a slight 10-degree backward tilt at the front that makes them ideal of close listening. Built out of high quality MDF housing and featuring a walnut finish, the cabinets come embedded with 4” bass drivers in conjunction with a 19mm silk dome tweeter. This provides easily listening without the compression of any frequencies and has a total power output of 66 watts.

No products found.

Each speaker cabinet is 10” high, 6.1” wide, 8.3” deep, and weighs 6.6lbs as a complete set.

The package contains the speakers themselves, dual RCA to dual RCA cable, a dual RCA to stereo cable, a 3.5mm stereo cable, user manual, and wireless remote control.

At the right side of the right speaker are three knobs for treble, bass, and volume control.

When it comes to sound the mid-range is where the Edifier R1700BT shines a lot. Due to its combination of a 2” of tweeter and 4” bass driver, mid-tones come through rich.buy-from-amazon

#5: Edifier e25 Luna Eclipse

Here’s another double feature from a company. We had a few other options for this position on our list, but ended up going with the Luna Eclipse due to the quirky design.

To quote Digital Trends: “Edifier e25 Luna Eclipse Bluetooth Speakers look like they came straight off a spaceship.”

This kind of reaction isn’t new to the company, as Edifier has been known for manufacturing unique desktop speakers such as the Prisma, Prisma Encore, and Spinnaker.

No products found.

The e25 also comes with Bluetooth capability as well as a power cord and speaker connecting cable. Inside the box are the speakers, a handy remote control, Power Brick, aux cable, optical cable, RCA cable and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

The speakers house a 19mm silk dome tweeter and 3” bass driver at the front, while the back hosts two passive radiators of 2 and 3”. With so much going on inside the speaker cabinet, you’re bound to get superior sound quality. This product manages to product some magnificent, deep lows with tight mids.

To get the best sound experience from them, we recommend keeping these speakers at least 8-10″ away from any wall. They’ll need plenty of room to breathe, otherwise you may end up with the speakers sounding boomy.

One complaint we have with this product is that the small base of the speakers mean they tend to wobble when using the capacitive buttons or plugging in any cables.

“All in all, Edifier e25 Luna Eclipse not only has good sound but also an eccentric design that is bound to make your guests droll over them and go gaga over it. If you love such kind of attention and more importantly love speakers that deliver; then Edifier e25 Luna Eclipse is your best bet.”

#4: Harman Kardon Soundstick III

The Harman Kardon Soundstick IIIs are another statement piece on our list.

Launched way back in 2010, the Soundstick IIIs design still looks fresh compared to all of the new tech out there. They’ve aged well.

One important thing to note is that these speakers were designed by Apple’s designer Jonathan Ive, the guy who came up with the model for the first series of colored iMacs and the legendary iPhones. With translucent fiber plastic used for building material instead of the usual wood cabinet, at first glance the Soundstick IIIs definitely stand out.

No products found.

Part of the name comes from the shape of the satellites that house four 1” transducers stacked over one another. They’re powered by a 10 watt amp on each speaker.

Unlike other subwoofers, the subwoofer on Harman Kardon Soundstick IIIs has a dome-like design. The subwoofer is down-firing and has a 6” driver embedded in it, powered by a 20 watt amp that creates deeper bass.

The speakers have touch control buttons that blend in well with the design but can be hard to locate. One of the more appealing aspects of this product is that the satellite speakers can be angled in any direction.

#3: Definitive Technology Incline

Minimalistic design is what defines the Definitive Technology Incline speakers, as they come in a 2.0 speaker configuration with an overall clean black design with metal accents.

As the name implies, these speakers are inclined by a 9.5 degree angle. The company claims that this points them directly towards listeners’ ears.

Though the design is simple, they still weigh a substantial amount at 5 kilograms.

Definitive Technology isn’t a well-known brand, but they’ve had years of experience when it comes to manufacturing premium audio equipment. They produce soundbars, portable speakers, desktop speakers, and more, all at an affordable price. The Incline is a newer product from the company that has set them in an impressive direction.

No products found.

When going minimalistic, there’s always a thin line between the design looking bland or sophisticated. Definitive Technology just manages to keep the Incline on the sexy side of simple.

Inside the box are the speakers, a power cable, USB cable and aux cable. The speakers are the perfect size to sit neatly on either side of your monitor.

Design wise they look very neat and can easily sit on either side of your monitor without making a fuss. The metal supports beneath the speakers are sturdy enough to avoid wobbling. There are only two buttons on the right speaker; one for volume and the other for power. Unfortunately, Definitive Technology doesn’t include a remote control, as many other options on this list do.

At first launch the Incline was priced at $400. They currently come in at just under $200 and are an incredible purchase no matter what you’re using them for.

“With warm sound and immensely pleasing design, Definitive Technology Incline is one of those computer speakers that happen to be a superb purchase for your money. If you want something that sounds beyond belief and would make your friends jealous, this desktop speaker is the one to go with.”

#2: Polk Audio Hampden AM6510-A

Polk Audio is a name synonymous with retro design and supreme sound quality. However with their latest products Polk has ditched the darker colored design for bright colors still rocking that retro look.

The influence is obvious in the Polk Audio Hampdens as well as with their headphones. The Hampdens are reminiscent of speakers from the 1980s. Even the volume dial is analog! They have a dimension of 5.7”x11.6” and weigh just over 13lbs.

Despite the dated yet attractive design, they’re equipped with modern tech. At the front are 4.5” drivers with 1” silk dome tweeters capable of producing very precise sound at high volume. The Hampdens throw out a total output of 80 watts – more than enough for even the connoisseurs.

No products found.

The speakers have Bluetooth capabilities, but that doesn’t completely eliminate the need for wires as you’ll need to connect these via cable and power them with a cord.

One great feature the company added involves the Polk Mobile App. This allows users to connect up to four smartphones at a time to these speakers and play audio from any of them. This is a great addition if you’re someone who hosts parties and get togethers. Let your friends create the playlist!

“To be true; a lot computer speakers that we have today are just a bulk of 2 satellites and one subwoofer with plain ol’ industrial black design. If you’re craving for excellence with such a leisure design that also acts as style statement, then there’s no why you shouldn’t be choosing the Polk Audio Hampden AM6510-A over anything else.”

#1: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

We’ve already featured the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers on our list of 12 Best Audiophile Desktop Speakers, but we felt the need to mention them here again.

The box contains two speakers and a large subwoofer. That’s it – we know, it doesn’t exactly look impressive next to the other options on our list with so many included bits and pieces.

But we have good reason for backing this product up. They’re THX certified, so the sound quality is unquestionably amazing. It doesn’t require any additional amps or modifications.

No products found.

The system produces 200 watts of total output with 35 watts coming from each speaker and 130 from the subwoofer. This includes a 6.5” side-firing driver.

Even with so much power the sound isn’t distorted at a loud volume. But be careful when using the volume knob! Small increments go far.

The speakers are magnificent for listening to music or watching movies, as they give a theater-like experience. Many customers have found the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 to be an effective fit for gaming as well.

“Released way back in 2002, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 still defines what a true Best 2.1 Computer Speakers under 200 Dollars should be. Investing in these will definitely be a worthwhile buy.”
