Beginner or expert?

Are you an accomplished Windows Grep user or a beginner?

Windows Grep has two interface modes: Beginner and Expert. These are selected by choosing the appropriate item in the Options menu.

In beginner mode, the default, searching and replacing are carried out with the help of Assistants. The Search Assistant and Replace Assistant guide you through the task of entering information needed to perform a search or replace in the same way Microsoft Wizards guide you through complex Windows tasks. Once you have used the program a few times and have a feel for how it works, you'll probably want to switch to expert mode.

In expert mode, the interface is much like that in the 16-bit versions of the program. If you have used Windows Grep before, you'll probably switch to expert mode straightaway. Expert mode provides access to all the advanced features of the program such as searching in ZIPs and searching specific fields within delimited or fixed width list files.
